Daal fry or Daal tadka

  

Daal or lentil is a basic dish of India especially north and east India. There are different kinds of daal or lentils available in India. Lentils are a good source of protein. It is customary to have daal with roti or rice. Here we give a recipe of tuvar or arhar daal.


Method and ingredients- Take 100 gm of tuvar daal in a pressure cooker and add about a liter of water, half tsp of turmeric, salt to taste and pressure cook the daal. Remove the cooker from flame after 3 whistles and allow it to cool down.

Adding Tadka
Ingredients: one large onion chopped, 1 tomato chopped,  one green chili chopped,  pure ghee 4 spoons, salt to taste, one tsp cumin seeds, turmeric and chili powder half tsp each.


Method: heat the ghee in a pan and add the above ingredients and fry till it becomes dark brown. 

Add this tadka to daal and delicious Daal tadka is ready to serve. You may garnish with coriander Leaves to add to its taste.
